The Brazilian attacker participated in the entire game on Sunday as Real triumphed 3-0 against Leganes in LaLiga, but assessments have disclosed a hamstring problem.
Vinicius Junior is set to miss Real Madrid’s Champions League duel with Liverpool due to a hamstring setback.
The Brazilian attacker featured throughout the match on Sunday as Real secured a 3-0 victory at Leganes in LaLiga, but evaluations have confirmed a muscular concern, and he has been omitted from Carlo Ancelotti’s 19-man roster for the journey to Anfield.
A notice from the club on Monday morning read: “Following assessments carried out today by the Real Madrid medical team on our player Vini Jr, he has been diagnosed with damage to the biceps femoris in his left limb. His recovery will be monitored.”
Real, who disclosed their traveling squad for Liverpool later on Monday without Vinicius, did not specify the duration of his absence, but reports in Spanish media suggest the 24-year-old could be unavailable for nearly a month.
The Champions League holders, Real, face an in-form Liverpool on Wednesday evening, having claimed two victories and suffered two losses in their four fixtures in this season’s competition.
They stand 18th in the standings, with the Reds leading after collecting all 12 points thus far.
Vinicius has netted 12 goals for Real this season, including hat-tricks in two of his last five outings.
Ancelotti’s side, four points adrift of LaLiga frontrunners Barcelona with a match in hand, return to domestic action when they host city rivals Getafe on Sunday.
