Nottingham Forest are hunting for their FOURTH permanent manager of the season after Sean Dyche was booted out following a dismal goalless draw with rock-bottom Wolves.
Dyche lasted just 114 days in the job. The statement arrived late Wednesday night, a grimly predictable end to a reign that never really got going. Despite Forest dominating the shot count against Wolves, they couldn’t find a finish. Again. And Evangelos Marinakis has once again reached for the axe.
“Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as head coach,” the statement read. “We would like to thank Sean and his staff for their efforts during their time at the club and we wish them the best of luck for the future.”
No further comment. There never is.
The numbers tell the story. Three points clear of the drop zone, but with a game in hand for those below. A squad that cost a fortune, stitched together from 47 different signings across three windows, somehow looks less than the sum of its parts. The organisation Dyche famously brings has been absent. The identity, unclear. The goals, non existent.
Forest’s trigger happy owner has now chewed through four bosses this term alone. Nuno Espirito Santo had them seventh last season, signed a new deal in June, and was sacked in September. Cue the revolving door.
Dyche’s exit leaves the City Ground in a familiar state of chaos. Who next? Rafa Benitez has been mentioned. David Moyes, too. Maybe Marinakis will pluck another name from the continental carousel. Whoever it is, they’ll be the fourth man to try his luck this season.
Forest have spent big, signed endlessly, and achieved very little. The only constant is the instability. And the fear, very real again, that this might finally be the year the gamble stops paying off.
