Barcelona boss makes stance clear ahead of Osasuna clash
Hansi Flick has thrown his full support behind Joan García, insisting the young goalkeeper remains Barcelona’s first-choice option despite Marc-André ter Stegen’s return to the squad.
Speaking to the press on Friday, the Blaugrana coach was unequivocal:
“Joan García is our number one, full stop.”
No distractions from Madrid talk
Flick refused to be drawn into questions about Real Madrid or Xabi Alonso, stressing his focus lies solely on Barcelona’s own challenges.
“We don’t focus on Real Madrid; we concentrate entirely on ourselves,” he said.
“I’m here to talk about Barcelona, not their situation.”
Ter Stegen talks kept private
While acknowledging he has spoken with Ter Stegen, Flick made it clear those conversations will remain behind closed doors.
“Of course, I’ve spoken with him. But those discussions stay between us,” he added.
Staying grounded at the top
Barcelona currently sit at the summit of La Liga, but Flick warned against complacency.
“It’s still early in the season. We can’t afford to look at the table and relax. If we finish first, it will be because we’ve earned it,” he explained
Eyes on Osasuna
Looking ahead to Saturday’s clash, Flick underlined the importance of treating every opponent with respect.
“Every match in La Liga is tough if you’re not at 100%. We prepare thoroughly for every fixture, whether it’s Atletico, Bilbao or Osasuna. The three points are crucial for us,” he concluded.
