Inter Milan Injury Blow: Denzel Dumfries Ruled Out for Four Months After Ankle Surgery

Inter Milan have been dealt a major blow with the news that wingback Denzel Dumfries is facing up to four months out following surgery on his ankle.

The Dutch international, 29, has already missed the Nerazzurri’s last seven matches and will now be sidelined until the spring, creating what sources describe as an “emergency” on the right flank for manager Cristian Chivu.

According to a report from FCInterNews, Dumfries underwent a procedure to address the persistent issue, with a recovery timeline set around 16 weeks. His absence leaves a glaring hole in Inter’s system, with summer signing Luis Henrique failing to convince as a reliable deputy since his arrival.

The Brazilian has shown only “occasional flashes of talent” in a disappointing start, leaving the club with little choice but to re enter the January market. Last winter, Inter acted swiftly to bring in Nicola Zalewski on loan from Roma, a move that proved crucial in their Serie A title push and a similar short term fix is now considered essential.

With the Scudetto race heating up and Champions League knockout football on the horizon, losing a key weapon like Dumfries for the bulk of the campaign could not have come at a worse time. All eyes are now on the club’s directors to find an adequate replacement before the window closes.
