Real Madrid Hit by ‘FIFA Virus’ as Éder Militão Suffers Adductor Injury on Brazil Duty

Real Madrid have been dealt another international-break headache after confirming Éder Militão has picked up a muscle injury to his right adductor while on duty with Brazil. The club didn’t put a timeline on his recovery, they rarely do but, reports in Spain reckon he’ll be sidelined for around two weeks.

The centre back picked up the knock during Brazil’s friendly against Tunisia, only days before returning to Spain for medical checks. Tests carried out on Wednesday at Valdebebas confirmed the issue, with the club releasing a brief note saying he’d been diagnosed with a “muscle injury to the adductor in his right leg”. Nothing more, no drama, just the usual Real Madrid medical statement.

It’s another blow for Carlo Ancelotti’s defence, already stretched this season with rotation, niggles and a heavy schedule across La Liga and Europe. Militão has been one of the more reliable figures at the back, especially in big games, and losing him now isn’t ideal with fixtures piling up.

Madrid haven’t named a return date, saying it depends on recovery and progression, though early whispers suggest two weeks on the sidelines. If that timeline holds, he’ll miss the matches against Elche and Olympiacos for sure, and is a doubt for Girona, Athletic Club and Celta Vigo. The good news for Los Blancos is that he’s expected to be fit in time for the showdown against Manchester City on 10 December, which is the one they’ll care most about.

The so-called “FIFA virus” has struck again, with fans already irritated that key players keep returning from international duty more damaged than when they left. For Ancelotti, it means reshuffling his defence once more  and hoping this one doesn’t drag longer than expected.
