Everton supporters have joined the outcry over the ruling to send Peterborough United to Goodison Park for an FA Cup third-round clash on a Thursday evening.
A post from @EFC_FansForum, with over 23k followers on X, stated: ‘We fully sympathise & align with Posh on the decision to reschedule another FA Cup 3rd Round match to a Thursday night. Our fans faced the same extensive journey on a Thursday last season to Crystal Palace. Yet again, supporters are entirely overlooked.’
Posh released a statement voicing ‘extreme frustration’ at the choice to play the match on January 11. The club attempted to have the date adjusted but did not succeed.
Posh fans responded with justified outrage, with many now unable to attend due to travel, work, and school conflicts.

We had been excited about going with our 9-year-old. A chance to watch Posh in an iconic stadium before it’s gone and to create memories. All taken by an incompetent and money-hungry FA that doesn’t value matchday fans – @matt_pufc
Two deeply disappointed kids. They had been really looking forward to an away day at a top-flight stadium. Absolutely crushed – @will76a
I feel terrible for every Posh supporter impacted by this. It’s a four-hour trek each way. It’s a weekday night. Think of the children thrilled about drawing Everton and then finding out they can’t attend. Yet again, attending fans are treated as an afterthought. I’m glad the club has spoken up – @NathanAlban
Still attending, but this completely spoils the excitement. I hope we and many other teams boycott next year – @14Ollie_
No way I’m going now, and I bet many others won’t either. Posh should refuse to play in protest. Unless someone stands up, this nonsense will continue – @Peter_Posh
I can’t make it anymore. Totally disgraceful from the FA – @alyn_line
Send the reserves, and no supporters should attend. Boycott the FA Cup – @pboromikky
As a teacher, there’s no chance of me attending at all! Such a pity – @sophie_ox
Might as well have had a bad draw. Everyone who was thrilled is now frustrated and annoyed – @alanposh
Magic of the cup! It’s lost on me now – @amwright40
Complete chaos! What are the FA doing?! Forget the supporters of smaller clubs. It’s all about profits. Pure frustration – @DebbieMec76
I absolutely won’t be attending. Completely ridiculous decision – @wackerlegend
Unbelievable. They cancel replays and then inconvenience fans by making it impossible to attend. Boycott the FA Cup – @matt_pufc
No thought for lower-league teams, and I doubt Everton are thrilled either. Another significant day ruined – @Rutlandspinner
Top-flight teams don’t care, and the FA authorities let them do it, destroying a big occasion for so many Posh fans – @PE4Blue
I’ll say no, I’ll call for a boycott, then I’ll take two days off and attend. In the end, the FA wins since their event won’t lose out – @dalerout
Completely crushed. Year 11 parents’ evening for me as a teacher! – @JimmyCross87
Shifting anything beyond the Saturday-Sunday window for a weekend game is appalling! – @davidwh1971
As the legendary Jock Stein said: ‘Football without fans is nothing.’ The FA Cup and its Thursday fixtures can get lost – @pj_cronin
It’s no different from a Tuesday away league fixture. If you’re keen to attend, you’ll find a way – @DayPaul84
Football is no longer for match-going fans. It’s now about money and TV audiences. Supporters are merely an afterthought! – @RichFeek
I was really anticipating this match. Can’t go midweek (no leave left), can’t watch live (no TV licence), completely let down by the FA – @TheMooksterUK
